Palm Oil free M&S Festive Chocolate
M&S make a U-Turn and go Palm Oil free for Christmas treats.
Marks and Spencer have always been good for food of flavour and quality, but sadly have always been one of the biggest culprits for Palm Oil use in their products.
If you don’t understand the palm oil issue then you can read a little more about that here.
Imagine my curiosity when I see a big glittery gold display in their food hall..
With sadness I walk over to check the ingredients, knowing this delightful selection will be nothing but alcholoic treats and palm laden chocolates.
Upon picking up the first item… A fine selection of “Salted Caramel Pinecones” in a nice box…
Slowly I turn this indulgent box of loveliness over knowing that it’s going to be full of Palm oil and I’ll have to put it down again and write a tweet of disappointment to m&s..
And then I read the ingredients:
So we are one for one, but there are plenty more chocolate goodies there..
- Upon selecting every item in front of me and reading the known ingredients I notice that Palm oil is present in 3 of these display products.
- That’s much better than the usual everything sweet M&S way.
See below the treats you can eat if you care about the rainforests and don’t want to be part of the reason they are being burned down.
- Well done M&S for re-gaining a few consumers through your responsible changes to chocolate products.
